Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Notice handles information when you use the app and its related webpages.
1. Overview
Notice is a personal journal designed for self-reflection. We have built the app so that your journal entries remain under your control. The app contains no advertising, third-party advertising trackers, or sale of user data.
Notice does not require a separate account. We do not use our own servers to store your journal entries, and the content of your entries is not sent to the Notice developer.
2. Information You May Store in Notice
You decide what information to record in Notice. Your entries may include situations, thoughts, emotions, emotion intensity, physical sensations, reactions, consequences, alternative thoughts, tags, custom step names, notes, reminder settings, import and export files, and related app settings.
If you record sensitive details, that content may constitute sensitive personal information. You should therefore carefully consider what information you add to the app.
3. Local Storage
By default, your journal entries and settings are stored on your device.
If you enable access protection, the app may store technical information on your device that is required to verify access, such as a hashed version of your PIN. The PIN itself is not sent to the developer and is not stored in plain text.
Face ID, Touch ID, and Android biometric authentication are handled by your device’s operating system. Notice receives only the result of the authentication check: whether access has been granted or denied.
4. Optional Synchronization and Backups
If synchronization is available and you choose to enable it, your data may be stored or transferred through the Apple or Google service you select. On iOS, this may include Apple iCloud or CloudKit. On Android, this may include the private Google Drive application data folder (appDataFolder).
Synchronization, cloud storage, device backups, and account data settings are provided by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies. Notice does not control these services.
If synchronization through Google Drive is enabled on Android, Notice encrypts the synchronized data before uploading it using a key derived from your passphrase. Do not lose this passphrase. Notice does not store it and cannot restore access to your synchronized data without it.
5. Purchases and Paid Features
The initial release of Notice does not offer in-app purchases, subscriptions, or Premium features. Notice does not process payment information or store information relating to paid access.
If purchases, subscriptions, or paid features are introduced in a future version, we will update this Privacy Policy before they become available.
6. Notifications, Import, and Export
If you enable reminders, Notice uses local notifications on your device. Notification permissions and delivery are managed by the operating system.
If you export your journal entries, the exported file may contain information you have added to Notice. You are responsible for deciding where such files are stored, sent, or otherwise shared.
If you import a file, the app reads the file you select in order to add its contents to Notice.
7. Support Requests
If you contact support, we may receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any files or screenshots you choose to provide. We use this information to respond to you, investigate the issue, and retain a record of the support request.
For privacy-related questions, contact us at support@noticelife.app.
8. What We Do Not Do
We do not sell your personal or sensitive information.
We do not use your journal entries for advertising.
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in Notice.
We do not collect precise location data, contacts, photographs, microphone recordings, camera data, or information from medical databases unless a future version explicitly requests such access and this Privacy Policy is updated accordingly.
9. Sharing of Information
We may share information only in limited circumstances: when necessary to provide app features through Apple or Google services selected by you; to respond to support requests; to comply with legal obligations; or to protect legal rights, user safety, and the security and reliable operation of the app or website.
Apple, Google, email providers, and hosting providers may process information under their own terms and policies when you use their services together with Notice.
10. Security
Notice uses on-device data storage, operating-system security features, and modern data transmission safeguards where network communication is required. Some data used for optional synchronization may be encrypted before upload, as described above.
No app, device, backup, or cloud service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device, Apple ID, Google Account, backups, exported files, and synchronization passphrases.
11. Retention and Deletion
Locally stored entries remain on your device until you delete them, reset the app’s data, or uninstall the app. They may also be affected by your device backup settings.
Synchronized copies may remain in Apple iCloud, the Google Drive appDataFolder, or device backups until you delete them through the app or the relevant account-management tools.
Support messages are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for support, record-keeping, security, or legal purposes. Because Notice does not require a separate account, there is no separate Notice account to delete.
12. Regional Privacy Rights
Depending on your country or region of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, restrict its processing, or object to certain types of processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Because most Notice data is stored on your device or in your Apple or Google account, you can generally manage it directly through the app, your device, or your Apple or Google account settings.
You may also contact us at support@noticelife.app regarding requests that relate to information actually held by us, such as support correspondence.
We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising-related tracking across apps and websites.
13. Children
Notice is not intended for children under the age of 13 or for children below the minimum age at which local law allows them to use digital services without parental consent.
If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@noticelife.app.
14. Not Medical Advice
Notice is a self-reflection tool. It is not a medical, psychotherapy, diagnostic, or crisis-support service.
If there is a risk to life, health, or safety, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Notice changes or when legal, technical, or app-store requirements change. The updated version takes effect when it is published on this page, unless a different effective date is stated.
If there are any inconsistencies between translations, the English version will prevail unless applicable law requires otherwise.
